RSM
Achieves ISO/TS 16949:2002 Certification – January
2007.
After
12 months hard work RSM’s Quality
Management System now conforms to the TS 16949
standard, recognized as the highest quality standard
in the automotive industry. Commenting on the achievement,
Mike Copplestone (RSM Quality Manager), said ‘the
process we have been through has resulted in improved
management communication, which has led to more
effective internal project management and improved
customer satisfaction levels. The process is now
embedded in the company culture and will be maintained
by continuous internal audit and an external audit
by Lloyds Register every six months. The most visible
result of the process so far is an eight fold reduction
in our ppm’s from 1500 to 193’.
Greg Williams (RSM MD) sees the Approval as an
important platform for the future of the business
and a declaration of intent that RSM intends to
become an increasingly influential supplier to
the European automotive sector in the years ahead.
RSM wins new Toyota
Contract.
Just
before Xmas 2006 RSM won the contract for the
rear seat bracketry for the new Toyota Avensis,
due for launch late 2008. Work is now well underway
on the project which involves 23 different components
and £700K

RSM
invests £250K
in Business Improvement Training for its staff.
RSM
has just completed an ambitious training programme
for 80 of its shop floor staff, the main purpose
of which was to improve quality performance and
reduce waste. The 80 staff were split into 12
teams, and the training delivered in 5 modules,
each one lasting 4 hours. The five modules included-
Safety & Regulation,
Effective Team Working, Workplace Organisation
and Tidiness, Problem Solving and Visual Management
Systems. The training was delivered by RDI, through
the Automotive Academy, and has resulted in an
NVQ level 3 qualification for each member of staff
who undertook the training.
The programme was completed during work-time in
60 sessions over a 12 week period, which required
careful planning so as not to disrupt production.
The results have transformed organization and housekeeping
on the shop floor and customers who have recently
visited the factory have noticed a big difference.
